I’m proud to say I grew up on a farm outside Standish, a small town in rural Michigan, where I began secretly reading my mom’s Book-of-the-Month Club adult selections at nine. Those novels introduced me to a world outside Arenac County, a journey that led me to Central Michigan University, to my first job in an inner-city high school in Flint where my real education began, and to selling air moving products to big box retailers across the U.S.A.
I learned to fly an airplane and wrote a few books. I’ve researched topics about the Potawatomi people of the First Nation, the atomic tests in the South Pacific and to how to set up an adult beverage still in my own backyard. And no, I’m not willing to share my great-grandmother’s moonshine recipe with anyone.
